Day 4 – Fog and Magic (08.11.2011)
November 12, 2011
Beppu is great if you like spending your day in a hot bathtub. But if you like to do something more… well you have to go out of town. They have a ropeway on one of the mountains. We decided that this would be a great trip with a great view all over Beppu, the sea and the landscape.
I think the view would have been great, if the fog got away. But the fog stayed and got even thicker. So we just enjoyed the view of the mountain. It’s a nice one. They have a lot of paths, leading to platforms and little shrines or statues… a lot of things to visit.
But we got hungry, and there was actually no restaurant or even a snack bar on that mountain… that’s rare in Japan. In the first days I got the feeling that you have a vending machine or a vendor EVERYWHERE!
So we headed back to Beppu, to get some lunch. A nice Japanese, Italian restaurant. They make good pasta. And then we just got back to the hotel and got a little lost in playing magic. It’s a shame that I actually have to travel to Japan to play magic once again. The last Time I played in the Netherlands last December… maybe I just have to travel more :p
I wrote my first postcards. Normally I tell people that my vacations are awesome, the food is delicious or that I met some nice people. This time I was forced to tell someone about the toilet paper. It’s very thin; you even can read the newspaper through it. My friends though that would be a proper topic in a letter… well they wouldn’t shut up, so I gave in…
