Day 5 – Ships and Trains (10.11.2011)

November 17, 2011

Off we went to Takamatsu. It was a little adventure until we finally managed to toll our taxi driver that we want to head for the port and not the station. He even got out of the car to ask his colleague. But with hands and feet and some help, and a lot of apologizing (from the taxi driver) we got there in time.

The journey on the ferry was a little special. They don’t have seats. They just have space to sit on with a comfortable carpet and cushions. You have to take your shoes off. That made the Japanese laugh again… she shoes of our giant friend were the big attraction of their journey. It was funny to watch them standing around a pair of shoes, and try them on and laugh and then stand beside it… I think one even took a photo.

We got to Yawatahama with the ferry and then took the train to Takamatsu. We had a lovely view from our train. I really love to travel much and see a lot of a foreign country… but after three hours sitting in a train, I have to move and do something else… or I’m getting very tired and grumpy.

In Takamatsu we got a cheesy hotel room… it smelled awful of cold cigarette smoke.  But… it was a room, with a bed and I was very happy to get there.
